"Beautiful Eyes" ~ Donna Salazar & Dimensional Border Tutorial

Howdy I am back again this time with another layout of my gorgeous girl! I miss her so much since she moved to Brisbane. She is growing up into a beautiful young lady! I can't believe she will be 20 next month!

I have a tutorial below on how to create this textured frame.

This flower was created using Botanique papers and the Grand Peony Creations

 Dimensional Border Tutorial
It is pretty easy to create this dimensional border. All you need is a peace of patterned paper. Using your craft knife and cut a cross though the middle of the paper. Only cut up to a couple of inches in form the corners. If you have a pattern on the corners like this paper, blade around the pattern so it stays flat.

Next spray water all over the paper, make it wet enough so that it is easy enough to manipulate.
Then starting at the center of the paper, concertina, crumple and fold the paper back onto itself.
Once you are happy with the folded borders use your craft knife to poke a hole into the center of the border and hold it together with a brad. Then Wallah a quick and easy dimensional border!

Beautiful ~ Donna Salazar & Tutorial - Butterfly Pizazz

Hello again, I bring you this post from a very very wet Queensland in Aus! It has been raining for weeks we have finally had a couple of days of sunshine!
I have a very clean lined layout for you today! This style of layout is a huge challenge for me, but I really wanted the photo to speak for itself on this layout!
Donna's papers and embellishments were perfect to compliment this photo. This photo is taken at my Grandparents beach. This is my favourite place in the world. And now that my Grandparents are gone it is even more special to me! I miss them so very much!

I have added a little pizazz to this butterfly, you can see the tutorial below to get this effect.

 Butterfly Pizazz Tutorial

This is a really simply and effective way to add a little pizazz to your butterflies or embellishments!

All I have done to achieve this effect is stamp with the Swirly Doos Stamp and the Butternut CHOX Mix'd Media Inx. Stamp the swirl over each wing. I used a scrap of paper to cover each wing while I stamped the other.

Next take the Glue Gloss and paint inbetween the stamped pattern then sprinkle with Fairy Dust Glitter.
To finish of the butterfly I have used beads and wire to create the body and antennas, I sprayed some gauze with black ink to create the tail for the butterfly..

Happy To Be Me ~ Donna Salazar Designs ~ DT Swap

Howdy Hi, This is the last of my DT swap layouts done!
This one is going to Natasha, she wanted us to scrap a picture of ourselves!

I prefer to be behind the camera than in front of it. I think there are so many of us mums are like that. Its sad hey, because at the end of the day it is your kids that miss out if anything happens to you and they have so few photos of you to remember you by. It really hit home to me and made me very sad when I was looking for photos of my kids with me when they were babies. I hardly have any, lots of dad and the kids and Grandparents but hardly any of me if any.
So after that I try to suck it up and suck it in lol and will let someone take a photo of me now. As soon as you get past that initial EEK and you start relaxing and having fun even you can be surprised with the outcome! Don't be selfish for your kids sakes, it is they who miss out on you in the years to come. I still don't like a lot of my photos, but that is more about me not accepting me for who I am, so this is me and this is the imprint I am leaving imperfections and all!
It also helps if you know how to use photoshop too!! Although this pic here is a selfie taken on my phone and is untouched other than a border and texture app.

Love Donna's New Papers!!! The colours are awesome and so versatile! I can see these going with everything!!!

I have used the new Driftwood Chox Mix'd Media Inx on this one! Love this colour too!

I hope you like this one Tash xxx

Walking with Catitude * Donna Salazar Designs* & Video Tutorial on Background Stamping

OK, I think I am getting over my week, having a day just creating yesterday helped a lot! Will share more of that when I photograph the projects. It has been a nice change of pace for the weekend. I am feeling a lot better now! Thank you everyone for your beautiful words of advice and support! Really does mean a lot! So Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

On some other news I have just announced I will be having my first weekend workshop in Mackay on the 16th & 17th of March. I have just put a call out for expressions of interest, also if any one knows of any good venue's I should look into I would really appreciate it!

I am re-posting this project that was recently published in Scrapbook Creations Magazine

No.97

Welcome back, Today I have another video tutorial on creating your own background with Donna Salazar's stamps & Mix'd Media Inx & Smooch Sptitz. I have also used the Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms  on this layout! They are so gorgeous and perfect for creating flowers to suit any project.

To give your bling butterflies more movement stick them to a piece of acetate, then cut it out and glue the center of the butterfly down with the wings slightly bent up.
After cutting the leaves from the bitty blossoms, ink with Mossy Mix'd Media Inks then mist with water and crumple up to give the leaves more texture.

Here is the Video Tutorial on creating the patchwork stamped background!

Happy Birthday ~ Donna Salazar Designs ~

Hello again, How is this fine day treating you all??
I have made a couple of cards to show you today, I need to make more of an effort to make more cards, they always mean so much more when you receive them
. These come about when I was cleaning up and putting stuff away and I picked something up and went, this would look good as a card and this would look good with that, anyway next minute instead of cleaning up I ended up with a bigger mess, but was happy to have created these 2 beautiful cards and cleaned up some of my scraps in the process. Gotta love that. So the clean up just took a detour!
I am shocking for remembering birthdays of all our extended family members I always start out well for Jan but then get so busy with life! This year I want to make sure I send a card to everyone and if not a card at least a phone call!

I have used the crafty Chronicle and Botanique papers for the card and flowers with a strip of canvas frayed to add a bit of interest.

I have used the Grand Peony Spellbinders die for the flowers.
I have used my fave DSD stamp the Dear Sir Stamp! I think it ends up on most projects!

I have use the new Mix'd Media Chox on this card (Petals)
as well as the Chiffon & Honey Mix'd Media Inks

Family ~ Donna Salazar Designs ~ DT Swap

Hellooooo, How is everyone today?? I am back again with another DT Swap layout, this month I had to do Lisa's photo. What a gorgeous family! I hope you like it Lisa!

I got to play with Donna's new corrugated swirls and Swirls Stamp on this layout!
I have also used another one of Mistra's Wild Rose Flowers (Blue one) on this layout!
The orange flower here was created with paper towel and mix media stax. You can see the tutorial for this flower HERE!

Creating the Background:
The background swirls were created with the Swirls stamp. Start with white cardstock stamp the swirls with the jasmin mix'd media inx, overlapping in a diagonal pattern. emboss with clear embossing powder. Then using the denim and patina mix'd media inx refills I added a line of ink to the top and bottom of the page. Heavily spritz these with water to created the drips up and down the page. I did one end first then the other. Keep spritzing with water until you are happy with the result. I then cut a border off about an inch in from the edge. Cutting around the swirls so they go over the edge. Then distress the edges. Once the photo and embellishments have been added I added some liquid pearl dots over the swirls.

The orange background is from an example I used with the rock salt technique I did on a video tutorial I did awhile ago HERE.

I love Donna's currugated Swirls from want2scrap they are so funky. I have inked over the corrugated swirls with the jasmin inx then spritzed with water to soften the look.

I have also used an orange water colour pencil to change the colour of a couple of the paper pieces. The bow on the dress form was pink and the stripes on the family tag were pink. I coloured over them with the water colour pencil then blended with a water pen.

Posers ~ Donna Salazar & Dusty Attic

Hi I am back again, today I am sharing this layout that I created at the Hyden Retreat in WA.
I think I was channeling my friend Debbie in the picture here as this layout reminds me of her style too. We had a table challenge at the retreat to use the dusty decorative frame #1.
I was also spoilt by Mistra who gave me a bunch of her ready made Donna Salazar Flowers made from the rose creation die! They are just sooo yummy, she is such a clever chickie!
The Sprightly Sprockets white coordinates fit perfectly over the decorative frame. I have also used the Family Portrait - Botanique paper here.
The circle design was created with an Orchid (The Crafters Workshop) Template. The center was inked with the Black Mix'd Media Inx. The blue Sea Kiss Smooch Spritz was wiped on with a baby wipe then I have used a card to wipe a thin layer of modelling paste over this to soften the whole effect. The blue dots around the border were created by sewing french knots on each dot.
